This showcase demonstrates a powerful way to invest in and get funding for innovative research and translate it into impactful business ventures.

The application for the 2025 Destination Startup is now open. Review the information below about eligibility, details and deadlines. Interested applicants are encouraged to begin preparation and submit their application as soon as possible.

The Destination Startup Investor Showcase is your opportunity to showcase your unique innovation to a room full of investors in deep tech startups. 

Applying to Destination Startup helps innovative researchers and faculty prepare for fundraising and the commercialization of their technology. All applicants will have the opportunity to have their pitch reviewed by multiple investors, with detailed feedback. Those selected to present at the showcase will participate in one or more “pitch practices,†getting expert coaching from serial entrepreneurs and investors who help perfect your value proposition and pitch.

Teams should have a signed Option Agreement or License Agreement from a participating university or national lab; teams that have signed a License Agreement by Jan. 15, 2025 will be given preference.

A competitive, independent selection process will determine which applicants will be invited to showcase at the March showcase.

Teams that presented at Destination Startup 2024 and have not begun a new funding round are not eligible.

Teams applying to Destination Startup should be actively raising funds at some time between the application date and March 2026.

Finalists...

  • must provide promotional information for their profile on the Destination Startup website;
  • must submit a video presentation that will be showcased to investors online over the 2-day event;
  • are strongly encouraged to attend the invite-only Cooley Investor and Founder Happy Hour the week of Destination Startup (details to come);
  • must send at least one team member to present during their designated time and attend the full showcase day,
  • may also bring one additional team member;
  • and if companies or teams close or plan to close their financing round between submitting an application and the final showcase, they must notify Amy Dodenhoff as soon as possible.
