Build real, hands-on work experience through the Internship in Jewish Studies! Come to us with your interests and we will place you with a local non-profit, educational institution, political office, medical school, or other site for a semester of service learning. Interns work 7-10 hours per week at their internship site and then come together for a weekly class with Eyal Rivlin to learn about leadership, work place ethics, and how Jewish Studies an inform their professional lives.

The Program in Jewish Studies is excited to announce a brand-new course for Spring 2018, Ethics, Medicine, and the Holocaust: Legacies in Health and Society (JWST 4800/5800). The course is offered in collaboration between the 91��ý and Anschutz Medical campuses, offering a unique opportunity for students to learn with peers from our sister campus.

This course, which is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, will explore the roles that health care professionals played in supporting and resisting the Third Reich and approaches for preventing genocide and crimes against humanity.

According to the course instructor, Professor Daniel Goldberg, this topic is important for many reasons. "Health care professionals continue to participate in atrocities, attempted genocides, and mass crimes across the globe," Professor Goldberg says. "Understanding why healers do so is critical for evaluating attempts to prevent such events." Ethics, Medicine, and the Holocaust will look at how leading human rights scholars have referred to the Nuremberg Doctors' Trials as the birth of modern bioethics in the West and why seemingly good people are susceptible to participation in atrocity.
