Hyperdrive Summer Internship

The COSGC Hyperdrive summer internship program will be returning this year. Last year was the program’s pilot summer and was a resounding success. 12 students from 5 COSGC institutions participated in a 10-week commuter, ½ time research internship. Students worked in two teams engaged in special projects related to the Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone (GLEE) lunar mission. During the 10 weeks, cohort 1 focused on design and rapid prototyping of an innovative design for the dissemination of chipsats on the lunar surface and cohort 2 completed in-depth testing of the GLEE LunaSat chipsat including designing and completing tests. Both teams reported to engineers from Lockheed Martin at the culmination of the internship. Â
This year, four students will be selected from across the state to reside at 91´«Ã½ from May 28 - August 2 and conduct field- or lab-based research projects with a team of scientists and other undergrad and graduate students. In addition to provided housing, the students will be paid a stipend so that they can spend their summer focused fully on their research project. At the end of the program, the students will use the research and communication skills they worked on to present their research at a local student science symposium. As housing will be provided, students from remote and rural locations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are open until March 15.
